My life changed forever at 14 years old when a doctor told me I was going to die before I could go to college. I was diagnosed with an incurable skin disease that would slowing suffocate me from the inside out. Pretty terrible thing to hear as a teenager, eh?
Fast forward almost a decade, and spoiler alert: I didn’t die! Thanks to various medications, good intentions, and a lot of prayer, my autoimmune condition was now non-existent and I was more than able to graduate college and went on to commission into the US Air Force. As I started my new job, other health challenges cropped up, mostly due to my own actions. I thought exercising 2+ hours per day, counting every calorie, and eating as low fat as possible, was the way to go, but I’m here to tell you, it wasn’t. Couple that with a high stress job and drinking alcohol most weekends didn’t improve things either! After a while, it didn't seem like I could lose weight or feel better regardless of what I did. I was experiencing symptoms like moodiness, bloating, weight gain, and falling asleep in meetings no matter how much sleep I got the night before.
One day, I just so happened to stumble across a post on social media about the Paleo diet. I did some research, and eventually discovered Mark's Daily Apple. Shortly thereafter, I started implementing some recommendations (gluten free, healthy fats, etc), and I felt great after just a couple weeks! After a few months, I felt like a brand new person! And that was just the beginning. Living Primal has helped me immensely, and has also inspired me to become a health coach because I wanted to help people make better decisions for their health and life, and possibly avoid some of the issues I had encountered.
More recently, I discovered that living primally (and sometimes as a carnivore!) wasn’t enough. Something was missing, and I was searching for that “thing” that would fill in the gaps for my health journey. And that’s when I discovered Dr. Jack Kruse, quantum biology, and other doctors and health coaches that promote getting enough sunshine and syncing circadian rhythms to achieve ultimate health. I felt like I had found a HUGE missing puzzle piece, and while the other aspects of health are important, now things like Light, Water, and Magnetism are taking center stage to achieve optimal health.
Now, I’m a veteran and a certified health coach focused on Light/Circadian rhythms, Primal ways of living and animal-based ways of eating, with a deep desire to support others in “renovating” into their most healthy, happy, kick ass selves.
